Citizens Property Insurance Corporation is Florida’s stop gap hurricane property insurance carrier. It was set up by statute to insure that all Floridians would have the opportunity to buy hurricane insurance even if they were not able to find a private insurer.

The Fort Lauderdale Insurance lawyers at Zebersky & Payne have found that many of the policies sold by Citizens have many loopholes and provisions that are not consumer friendly and not designed to optimize the payout to consumers.

The insurance attorneys at Zebersky & Payne over the last decade and more specifically Ed Zebersky during his presidency of the Florida Justice Association discussed legislative changes with Citizens and legislators to close up some of these loopholes and provide for a more fair resolution of these claims for Florida citizens.
